As a supplier for the consumer goods industry Offsetdruckerei Schwarzach of West Austria relies on sustainability.  This means Offsetdruckerei Schwarzach does not accept any compromises neither for the quality of the packaging nor for productivity. As per 1st of May 2009 the company is now a  Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified company. Main handicaps of this system are the higher price, the limited availability of raw materials and a restricted flexibility for short-term packaging projects. Currently only 8 per cent of the worldwide forest areas are certified.

FSC-Labels:
FSC Pure: All content in Pure products must be of FSC certified wood.
FSC Mix: Mix products contain FSC certified wood from well managed forests, company controlled sources and/or recycled wood or fiber.
FSC Mix Recycling: Mix Recycling products are identical with Mix products. The paper or cardboard contains a certain part of recycled material.
FSC Recycling: This label identifies 100 per cent post-consumer recycled content in these products.

Wood from illegal sources, from exhaustive cultivation or from unverifiable sources is excluded for a use in recycling materials.

FSC stands for the traceability and the considerate treatment of the available raw material wood originating from a well managed forest with a controlled, certified and resource-friendly cultivation. This aim is visible to the end consumer by the imprint of the FSC label on the packaging.

Products labeled FSC have to go through the product chain, right from the forest unto the end consumer, passing through trade and processing. Every producer is verifiably controlled through the “chain of custody”, that guarantees that the supply chain of the producing and/or processing companies is traceable without any interruption from the tree to the finished cardboard product.

FSC promotes market-oriented sustainably efficient incentives through a gentle forestry management of the forests. This corresponds to the increasing interest of the end consumers in the raw material wood: wood harvested under the control of FSC does not contribute to the gradual global destruction.
